A Grenada man is in the Vaiden Jail facing credit card fraud.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies arrested James Walter Harley Nelms, 25, at a Kilmichael business on a warrant, Sheriff Jeff Tompkins said.
Deputies charged Nelms with using a credit card or credit card numbers with intent to defraud, according to the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility (CMRCF) arrest docket.
Tompkins said the card that Nelms is accused of taking was attached to a joint bank account.
“One of the family members died, and he got the card and started using it without permission,” said Tompkins, adding Nelms’ name was not on the account.
Nelms is accused of taking about $1,300, according to Tompkins.
He remains in CMRCF on a $5,000 bond, which was reduced from $25,000 at his initial appearance on Tuesday.
