Anticipation grows for the annual Grassroots Blues Festival in Duck Hill.
“This is our 21st Blues Festival,” said organizer Al White with Action Communication and Education Reform.
Festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. on July 7 with Barry Pine Blakely filling the air with rhythmic melodies at Elliott Field off Mississippi Highway 404 West, according to White.
Jerry Fair will follow Blakely with John Horton and Band, and later, Mark Massey wrapping the night.
Just Us Band will take the stage at 6 p.m. on July 8 before Lewis Johnson and the No Name Band, White said.
Lil’ Willie Farmer will keep the crowd pleased when he presents his unique sound, and the Emmons Entertainment Band will wrap up the night and the festival, according to White.
A one-day pass is $25, and kids, 13 and younger, are free. High school students are $5.“We’re expecting a good turnout. We’re expecting another successful festival,” said White. “We expect people to have a good time.”
Not only will the festival be a good time for music lovers, but it will offer fun for the whole family with inflatables along with food and arts and crafts vendors on Friday and Saturday, White said.
While the fun will begin late in the day, White encourages everyone attending to bring lots of water, coolers and fans to keep cool and protect themselves from the heat.
“Normally, the temperature drops” around the time the entertainment begins, he said.
