Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department joined for training last week to improve their skills and expand their knowledge in policing.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker, his department hosted the training, taught by renowned instructor Scott Hatfield, who has trained law enforcement officers as well as military personal.
“This is the best training in the world,” Walker said. “Hatfield is a retired Navy SEAL and has trained Navy SEALS.”
Walker said the training, which was held at the gun range of the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department, was held over two days to provide deputies more in-depth knowledge of policing.
“This is training our deputies to better protect and serve our citizens,” Walker said. “[Montgomery County] Sheriff Jeff Tompkins and I want them to feel confident their sheriff’s departments are well-trained and have the right skills. People need to feel safe.”
