They are planning ahead for next year!
Who?
Students in high school are looking at courses they can take, required classes for graduation when they are seniors, prerequisites for the college or junior college they want to get in, and what classes they will be taking in their major so they can get a high school background in it.
if overloaded, the student will face stress, too many classes to have time to prepare for, and risk failure. If under scheduled, the student may not get all they need to graduate completed in the four years. They may graduate without the best broadest education for their future.
They may think, “Should I take the class I know is very difficult and might make me make a lower grade than I want for my GPA (Grade Point Average)?” “Should I take this easy class to bring up my GPA?”
Should you risk the challenge? Should you take the easy road?
What do you want in the end: a great, broad, foundational education or a set of courses you can glide through?
Some students don’t find out life is tough until they graduate from high school. They don’t realize the stress and work of “adulting” as people say. Others don’t find out what reality is like until after college. Then it hits. It is up to me to succeed.
I have to put in time! I have to put in effort! I have to keep preparing! I’ll never stop learning, improving my abilities, and honing my skills!
I have to make hard decisions: this or that? Party or studying? Work or take off?
In our spiritual lives we are to put effort in growing in our relationship with God and our ability to present the Gospel to those who are on the way to hell.
The New Living Translation of the Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15: “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”
Do works save us? No, Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
How do we “work hard” then? Be in church to study God’s Holy Word. Be in Bible Study to learn and apply God’s truth to your life! Pray. Give. Study prayer in the Bible. Tell others about the wonderful relationship and salvation offered through Jesus. Be active in your faith! Serve others. Follow God’s plan for your life. Teach what you know! Encourage and be faithful. And much more.
Choose the best! Don’t get on the wide easy road. Challenge yourself to fight evil with the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God.
Someone surely does need to!
