On Friday, May 10, two Winona Christian School students, Josey Osborne and Bryce McCaleb, were injured in a campfire accident. The accident resulted from a pressurized can of bug spray exploding from heat exposure. Twelve-year-old Osborne was airlifted to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital after the incident. According to a Facebook post made by his mother, Jennifer Harrell after the incident, Osborne received severe second degree burns on the majority of his body and received other injuries from shrapnel. Monday evening, Harrell updated on Osborne’s condition, stating he would require a second surgery involving skin graphing. She reported that after his first surgery, medical staff determined he had areas of severe second and third degree burns over three-fourths of his body.
Harrell stated, “Please pray for a safe and successful surgery tomorrow and also for Josey’s pain levels. This is rough. Thanks to everyone who is praying for us and helping us in so many other humbling and touching ways. We love y’all.”
