Carroll County’s Sheriff’s office had quite a busy day on May 4 as they managed to stop contraband from being brought into the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility (CMRCF).
According to a press release from Sheriff Clint Walker, a prisoner phone call, which had been recorded and monitored, alerted CMRCF staff that a man had told an inmate over the phone he was on the way to bond the inmate out.
The recorded call also revealed that he had with him something to “make him feel better.” Sheriff’s deputies were alerted, and when a man identified as David Allen Justice, 45, arrived at the facility, his car was searched by facility staff and deputies, stated the release.
“During the search, officers discovered a plastic package containing methamphetamine,” according to the report. “Justice was arrested and booked into CMRCF where he had recently completed a prior sentence.”
Judge Tinesha Erve-Earnest set his bond at $10,000 for possession of a controlled substance, stated the release.
Justice had warrants in Louisiana and with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, according to the release.
“We have a no-tolerance policy for contraband at CMRCF. Because of the staff member’s diligent monitoring, we were able to get a wanted felon off of the streets, along with his dope,” said Walker.
