An Ohio couple that stands accused of robbing a Winona truck stop appeared in Winona City Court last Tuesday.
Sammy Bolden, 37, and Melinda Jo Moore, 35, both of Creston, Ohio, have been charged with armed robbery and waived their right to a preliminary hearing. The two were bound over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury. Winona Public Defender Lee Bailey represented the two for Tuesday’s court proceedings.
Bolen and Moore were charged in connection with a June 28 armed robbery of the Pilot Travel Center, located on Highway 82, just west of Interstate 55.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, just after 9 a.m. on June 28, a man entered the Pilot Travel Center, brandished a firearm, and told the store manager to empty the cash register.
The man left the store in a Blue RAV4 SUV with Ohio license plates and headed west on Highway 82.
At 9:21 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department had the couple in custody at a gas station at Highway 17 and Highway 35. Deputies recovered $965 and two air-soft pistols, non-lethal pistols that fire plastic bullets.
Bolden is currently being held on a $150,000 bond, reduced by Judge Donald Bond from $500,000, at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility. Moore is being held on a $50,000 bond, also reduced by Judge Donald Bond from $500,000, at the Webster County Jail.
Also in Winona City Court Tuesday, Jarquez Duren, who is charged with armed robbery, was also bound over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury.
Duren, 28, of Winona stands accused of robbing an individual at gunpoint at a residence on Rosamond Street in Winona.
