It can’t be a magnet. . .
but it seems that way.
Our vehicles seem to attract clutter and junk!
Do you have that problem? When I was teaching it seemed like I hauled stuff back and forth to school and home all the time!
Life was so busy it was hard for me to keep the inside of my car cleaned out and neat. Before I had someone ride with me, I’d have to clear out the passenger seat and floorboard.
Now there aren’t any excuses like I’m too busy, but it is still easy to toss a cup or wrapper in the back floorboard and keep going. Of course, I’m going to get it out later!
But have you let it build up?
Maybe it’s the cargo area that gets potting soil from carrying plants, or tools needed for a job you have done, or craft stuff you found and haven’t put up yet. Things that are out of place, yet I can drive around with them riding along!
You may not be guilty of any of this! Your car and truck may be pristine and always showcase sparkling! GOOD FOR YOU!
I admire the new car look and smell.
I wish I could always enjoy it.
What keeps me from that fresh clean car experience?
Laziness? Procrastination? Not taking time to do the quick clean out when I get out of the car? Not noticing? Overexposure to it——not noticing it, not seeing it, being used to it?
I remember all the things my Dad did to get ready for Sunday church. He got out his suit and chose his shirt and tie. The shirt had to be freshly pressed. He got out his wooden shoe polish kit. He polished his shoes until they gleamed!
He washed the car, cleaned it out, and polished the windshield until it was spotless. He used special cleaner on the dash, seats, and doors. He vacuumed the carpet. He washed the tires and the hub caps. Sometimes he would put polish on the car, let it dry to a white film, and hand buff it. He took care of the car, and it showed his pride in it when we got in it on Sunday morning to go to church in our Sunday best.
We need to keep our hearts, minds, and souls cleaned out of sin and the trash of the sin of the world around us. Daily keeping up with confession and repentance keeps us in touch with our precious Lord and Savior,
Keep up with daily spiritual cleaning asking God’s forgiveness for sin and failures, and go to church on Sunday to ask Him to wash the stain away: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; and though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18
There are lots of car washes, but only God can clean our lives!!
