A Winona teenager is facing felony charges for allegedly shooting at a vehicle Saturday night.
DeShun Anderson, 18, of Winona has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with a shooting which occurred on July 7 in the parking lot of the Winona Community Center.
In a preliminary hearing in Winona City Court Tuesday, Nicholas Forrest, 33, of Winona testified that on Saturday night, he and his brother-in-law, Jacorian Bays, were dropping a friend off at the Winona Community Center on Powell Street when Anderson approached his Nissan Rogue and exchanged words with Bays.
“I saw him pull the gun out of his pants,” Forrest said. “We were exiting the parking lot when he began firing. He fired multiple times.”
Forrest said a bullet struck the taillight on the driver’s side.
Bays also testified and collaborated Forrest’s testimony. Neither Forrest nor Bays said they knew of a reason Anderson was angry with them.
Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, testified that shortly after the shooting, a nearby resident reported that their house was shot into, and a projectile was recovered at the house.
Winona City Judge Alan D. Lancaster bound Anderson, who was represented by Public Defender Lee Bailey, over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury. Bond was set at $100,000.
