Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital has a new chief administrative officer.
Sean Johnson has recently taken the helm at Tyler Holmes, and he is currently settling into the role. Johnson, a 14-year professional in medical administration, comes to Tyler Holmes from Magee General Hospital.
Tuesday, January 22 was Johnson’s first day, and since then, he has been busy meeting with hospital staff, relocating to the area, and preparing for his first speaking engagement tomorrow at the Winona Rotary Club.
Johnson was hired as administrator after former administrator Eddie Rutherford stepped down from the position to return to the position of director of pharmacy at the hospital, a position he held for nearly a decade before being promoted to administrator. According to Kim Timbs, director of clinics, Rutherford saw an opening to return to the field of medicine he was most passionate about.
A native of Jackson, Johnson is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received his master’s in health administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
“As hospital CEO for the last 14 years, I have witnessed significant changes and challenges in both the delivery and financing of healthcare services,” Johnson said. “The opportunity to serve as CEO at Tyler Holmes is an honor as I appreciate the board of trustees for not only their support, but the vision we share in leading this critical access hospital. Communication is essential as I have an open door to our community, and I look forward to serving.”
