Title additions and the discussion of several teachers from J.Z. George and one from Marshall not turning in signed contracts were main topics at the Carroll County School Board of Trustees special-called meeting last Thursday night at the Central Office in Carrollton.
Dr. Wendy Hubbard, who the board hired to take the place of Rana Mitchell, will be the new assistant superintendent and SPED director formerly held by Mitchell. Hubbard is the former superintendent of the Montgomery County School District before it consolidated with Winona Separate School District to create the Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District. She currently works for the Mississippi Department of Education.
“How many assistant does he need?” DeLoach asked.
Ferguson said Hubbard will help with curriculum and to make sure teachers are doing what they should and staying on task.
Then, the board moved on to the list of teachers who haven’t returned signed contracts. There were several at J.Z. George High School and one at Marshall Elementary.
Before the discussion of titles and teachers, the board hired two new football coaches and a new assistant band director.
The board hired Quentin Fairley, who’s currently an assistant football coach for Louisville High School and a eighth grade teacher at Eiland Middle School and Doyle Ellett, the current defensive line and running back coach for Calhoun City High School as new football coaches.
