The 2019 Charity Ball, hosted by Junior Auxiliary of Winona, will be held on Saturday, April 13 at Winona Country Club following the Crown Club Court presentation in the Winona High School auditorium. The afternoon will include great food, entertainment, a raffle and silent auction.
This year’s Charity Ball King and Queen are Steve and LeAnne Lester of Winona.
LeAnne Lester is a lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary of Winona. During her five-and-a-half-years of service to Junior Auxiliary, she served as treasurer on the JA board, along with actively participating in all finance and service projects and was also chairman of some project committees.
LeAnne is a member of First Baptist Church of Winona where she participates in the First Baptist Church choir, is a member of the Personnel Committee, and serves as the head of a Wednesday night cooking team. LeAnne actively volunteers when needed with the children and youth of the church and has served a Vacation Bible School teacher.
Even though LeAnne is not an active member of Junior Auxiliary, she still aids the children of our communities as a school teacher. She began her career at Winona Elementary School in 1985 where she served children in first through fourth grades throughout her 26 years before retirement. Following retirement, she was employed by Hammond’s Pharmacy for five years, and is now employed at Winona Christian School as a first grade teacher.
LeAnne graduated from Winona High School in 1980 and obtained a degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University in 1984, where she graduated with honors as a Summa Cum Laude graduate. She then graduated with her Master’s Degree from Mississippi State University in 1985.
While at MSU, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. LeAnne is now an active member of the Chi Omega chapter of Winona.
LeAnne has been married to Steve Lester of Winona since 1985. They have two children, Kade Lester, husband of Mallory Burchfield Lester, and Carlie Lester Boyette, wife of Jeremy Boyette. They also have four grandchildren, Drake, Della Brooke, and Demi Lynn Lester and Jase Boyette.
LeAnne is the daughter of Dorothy Grey Box and the late Billy Box of Winona.
Steve Lester is the son of the late Bobby and Shirley Lester of Winona. He graduated from Winona Academy in 1978 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Mississippi State University in 1985. Steve began his career at North Central Savings and Loan from 1985-1991. He then accepted a position at the Bank of Winona, and he later obtained a degree from Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking in 1995.
Steve is a member of First Baptist Church of Winona where he participates in the First Baptist Church choir and orchestra and serves as an active deacon.
In our community, he has been a very active member of the Montgomery County Arts Council since 2005 where he has served as the chairman of the board, written and directed plays, and written original music. Steve is a currently employed and serves as Senior Vice President at Bank of Winona.
The 2018-2019 Crown Club Court will be presented at 6 p.m. Girls being presented are Mason Boyette, Madeline Branch, Mia Coy Bridges, Alyssa Campbell, Madison Clark, Kaitlyn Chamblee, Ashley Dru Chamblee, Chessa Colvin, Deanna Cotts, Rana Raige Davis, Kaylee Ferguson, Hannah Hicks, Lauren Hood, Mary Hope Gammel, Alexandra Guzman, Sara Neely O’Bryant, Emma Rickles, Madison Rickles, Ann Hart Smith, Marilois Ussery, Haylan White, and Radleigh Woods.
