The Carroll County Development Association held its annual banquet Monday night in the fellowship hall at Carrollton Baptist Church.
The meal was catered by the County Barn restaurant, and the keynote speaker was Dr. Albert Nylander, Professor of Sociology and the Director of the McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement at the University of Mississippi. The Institute’s mission is to advance transformative service throughout the University and to fight poverty through education in Mississippi. Dr. Nylander has more than 20 years of service as an administrative leader in Higher Education. At the University of Mississippi, he directs the community engagement efforts at the McLean Institute.
Following Nyland’s message, the membership voted to re-elect members of the CCDA board of directors. The 2018-2019 board includes Beat 1 George Johnson and Sugar Mullins; Beat 2 Pam Lee and Charlie Montgomery; Beat 3 Steve Anderson; Beat 4 Harry Hart and James Shackelford; Beat 5 Willie Hawthorne, and Stanley Stuart; and At Large Bernard Taylor.
Montgomery and Shackelford are newly-elected to the board.
Non-voting members of the board are Rickie Corley, president of Supervisors and mayors of three towns or their representatives.
