In the highly contested seat for Circuit District 5 Place 2 Circuit Court Judge, Alan “Devo” Lancaster carried Montgomery County.
Many absentee ballots had not been counted by press time, and Montgomery County Circuit Clerk Lanelle Martin said the ballots must have been post marked by Nov. 7 to be counted in this election.
According to incomplete and unofficial figures from Martin, Lancaster, board attorney for Montgomery County, secured 2,040 votes, 69.91 percent of 14 of 14 precincts reporting on Nov. 8.
In Carroll County, Lancaster picked up 1,549 total votes, according to incomplete and unofficial figures from Carroll County Circuit Clerk Durward Stanton.Doug Evans, district attorney, was Lancaster’s closest opponent in Montgomery County, County, gaining 427 votes, which were 14.63 percent of 14 of 14 precincts reporting, according to Martin.
Evans was able to secure 1,221 votes in Carroll County, according to Stanton.
According to Martin, Kasey Young picked up 224 votes in Montgomery County, 7.68 percent of 14 of 14 reporting precincts. She secured 313 votes in Carroll County, according to Stanton.
Doug Crosby gathered 140 votes, while Zachary Madison secured 79 in Montgomery County.
Crosby won 316 and Madison got 125 in Carroll.
In the unopposed race for Winona Montgomery Consolidated School Board District 2 member, Brandye Brannon won 547 votes.
In the race for the Second Congressional District U.S. House of Representatives candidate Brian Flowers secured 1,771 votes and 59.11 percent of ballots cast in Montgomery County. Incumbent Bennie Thompson secured 1,224 and 40.85 percent.
Jim Greenlee ran unopposed in the District 1 Position 1 Court of Appeals Judge race, winning 684 votes and 99.42 percent of votes in Montgomery County, according to Martin.
Vicki Cobb ran unopposed in the Chancery District 3-2 Place 2 Chancery Court Judge racing securing 2,158 votes and 98.95 percent in the county.
Mitchell Lundy secured 2,174 votes in the unopposed contest for Chancery District 3-2 Place 3 Chancery Court Judge, and Joseph Loper won 2,149 votes in the unopposed Circuit District 5 Place 1 Circuit Court Judge.
