II Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
As we scan across the spiritual landscape of America today, it’s painfully obvious that we are in need of a revival and spiritual awakening. On one hand, we see so many unbelievers who are blinded to the truth of the gospel (II Corinthians 4:3-4). They don’t know God because they don’t know His Son, Jesus (John 14:6). They live their lives in accordance with their sin nature (Romans 3). As a result, we see the consequences of unbelief and disobedience all around us (Romans 1:18-32). We see so many people who need to be saved from their sin, by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
On the other hand, we also see many believers who live their lives struggling with sin and the on-going battle between the flesh and the spirit. Paul writes about this struggle in Romans 7:21-23. We see many believers who are quick to give in to sin and the ways of the world. They are quick to compromise and water down their faith, leaving the witness of the church weak and ineffective. We see so many believers who need to realize that the power of sin in their life was broken by Jesus (Romans 6:6). We have been set free!
We need to, as II Chronicles 7:14 says, 1) humble ourselves, 2) pray, 3) seek God’s face, and 4) turn from our wicked ways; then God will hear from heaven, God will forgive our sin, and God will heal our land.
What about you? Do you see it? Do you see the need for revival? Let me encourage you to obediently follow the instructions of II Chronicles 7:14 and the Bible as a whole and cry out to God for revival. Revival starts in my heart, it starts in your heart, and then it spreads like wildfire.
“Dear God, please send revival to our land!”
