C. W. “Bill” Barrentine, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in McCarley, on July 9, 2025. Both of his daughters were present with him during his final days. Bill was born to the late C.E. and Mary Etta (Green) Barrentine on July 21, 1939, in Carroll County.
Bill was a member of McCarley Baptist Church. He was founder and former owner of Barrentine Pool and Spa in Greenwood, MS and with his late wife, Henrietta founded Barrentine Hardware and Lumber in Winona, MS. He loved his God, family, chewing cigars, having a toddy at 5 o’clock, Winona (Academy) Christian School, and Mississippi State football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta (Knighton); siblings; Charles E. Barrentine, Jr., Sam Barren-tine, Ralph Barrentine, Jim Barrentine, Les Barrentine, John Barrentine, Jack (Gaye) Barrentine; Joe Barren-tine; Mary Catherine Barrentine and Sadie Parker.
Bill is survived by his brother, Tom (Pat) Barrentine; his two girls, Mary Ann (John) Creel and Sheila (Tommy) McManus; grandchildren William Cass (Maggie) Howard, Dylan Hamblin, and Harmony Myhres; his first great grandchild due later this year; a host of nieces and nephews; and former wife and friend Sarah Barren-tine.

Funeral services for Mr. C.W. “Bill” Barrentine of McCarley were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the Oliver Funeral Home chapel, with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Rupert Ingram officiated the services. Serving as pallbearers were Mike Barrentine, Tommy McManus, Cass Howard, Lydell Barrentine, Ted Jennings, and Anthony Hamblin.
Visitation was held prior to the service on Tuesday, July 15, from 10 a.m. until service time at Oli-ver Funeral Home of Winona.
