Weather conditions appear to be optimal for the Bogue Creek Festival on Saturday.
While the forecast shows sunny, 85-degree weather, Miranda Dean with the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department expects loads of fun throughout the day rain or shine.
The festival will be held at Lancaster Pecan Grove off Mississippi Highway 51 in Duck Hill as a fundraiser for the Red Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Dean said.
The fire department is working to build a new station in the spring of 2024, and they are currently accepting bids for construction, she said.
“All the proceeds go to the volunteer fire department,” said Dean in an earlier interview.
More than 1,000 people are expected to meander through the festival which will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Dean said the fire department is expecting about 50 vendors to be on site.
Vendors will include Circle L Enterprises, Zak’s Kitchen, Small Time Hotdogs and Top Notch Concessions.
Visitors to the grove will be able to get their faces painted, try out the dunking booth, play on inflatables and take horse and train rides, according to Dean.
Performers for the day will be Meggie Sykes, Duck Hill Hillbillies, Pine Blakely, Good Ol’ Boys, In Debt and Bloodline.
Dean said she hopes everyone comes and has a good time enjoying the entertainment.
Everyone who would like to be a vendor at the festival can call Dean at 662-552-7878 or Cathy Sykes at 662-310-0539 or send an email to boguecreekfestival@yahoo.com or redhillvolfiredept@yahoo.com.
