Members of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors accepted a bid from R & R Construction during their Aug. 31 meeting to build a new Southeast Winona voting precinct.
The building will be on Liberty Street in the location of the recently demolished Emergency Operations Center, which once served as the Southeast Winona precinct, according to Montgomery County Chancery Clerk Ryan Wood.
“We’re going to build a new building there that will be one of the District Four voting precincts. It’s the one where they had been voting at the old City Hall,” said Wood.
Supervisors accepted a $66,000 bid from R & R Construction for the new building in a 4-1 vote with Supervisor Ronald White voting against.
“We’re constructing a building there that is going to serve [as a precinct], and it will be much nicer and much more accessible,” said Wood. “It’s expected to be completed by November. They have told us that it will be ready by November.”
