PEARL – J.Z. George junior Montavis Jenkins was second in the discus at the MHSAA boys 3A track meet Saturday at Pearl High School with a throw of 118 feet eight inches. Kameron Johnson of Jefferson County won the event at 126-11.
PEARL – Two sixth place finishes gave Montgomery County six points and a tie for 21st place at the MHSAA 1A boys state track meet Saturday at Pearl High School.
Sophomore Cedric Bibbs was sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:20.41. That was nearly two second faster than his second place finish at the South State meet a week earlier.
J.Z. George will conclude spring football practice with a jamboree at Eupora Friday. The junior varsity team will play Louisville at 5:10 and the varsity will take on Eupora at 5:50.
For the Jaguars, the varsity game will be 14 minutes on offense and 14 minutes on defense.
Under a blue sky and sunshine, a large group gathered at the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Friday morning to attend the Dedication Ceremony of a Blue Star Memorial, a marker honoring the Armed Forces that have defended the United States of America.
