There is just five days until voters in Montgomery County return to the polls to vote for who will become the next sheriff, tax assessor/collector, justice court judge, constable, District 2 supervisor, and District 3 supervisor.
The J.Z. George High School Marching Band has qualified to go to state marching band competition. Band Director Shelby Stapleton said the band received an overall 2 when they competed at Grenada High School.
She said they had to wait for a call from the Mississippi Marching Band Association to see if they would qualify.
•The J.Z. George Jaguars will take on the Bruce High School Trojans at 7 p.m. in Bruce. The game was moved up due to possible inclement weather.
•The Winona Christian Stars will take on the Oak Hill Academy Raiders at 7 p.m. in Winona.
Brenda King has served the people of Carroll County as a Deputy Circuit Clerk for 27 and a half years. She began working part-time in December 1991 and became full-time in March 1992.
Residents in Carrollton will vote on a two percent tourism tax on Nov. 5 at the Carrollton Town Hall, which if passed, a two cents tax will be placed on every dollar spent on prepared food and beverage sold within the city limits. The proceeds will benefit tourism, recreation, and parks in Carrollton.
Winona Secondary School will hold its homecoming festivities on Friday night beginning at 6:30 p.m.
