My friend is a big man, and he told me this story, in so many words.
My friend said he and three of his buddies went to Florida for a vacation. “I kept getting looks from people,” he said. “They moved away from me and said, ‘Man, you are big!’ They were scared of me.”
In the back roads in and around the Hesterville and Carmack communities runs a little creek, really just a little stream called Zilpher Creek. First, second, and third grade students from Winona Christian School who met their Accelerated Reading goal for the second nine weeks were rewarded with a trip to the movies at Plaza Cinema in Grenada.
The Walmart sign was painted over Tuesday afternoon prior to its final 7 p.m. closing that evening. Earlier this month, Walmart’s corporate office announced the Winona store, opened in 1979, would close permanently. Eighty-five employees were affected by the closing as well as the residents of the city and surrounding communities.
Police need your help in identifying those responsible for a home burglary in Winona.
According to Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, police are investigating a home burglary that occurred on Pecan Lane on the evening of Friday, January 19.
