Less than 24 hours after a Carroll Academy bus carrying 25 children went down an embankment on Highway 82, Headmistress Penny Mitchell said students, faculty and staff at Carroll Academy are “on the way to mending.”

NORTH CARROLLTON – Carroll County Supervisors said damages from the Halloween storm have been assessed at $100,000 for repairs after straight line winds came through knocking trees onto houses, 

A school bus carrying about 25 students from Carroll Academy ran off U.S. 82 Wednesday afternoon, slid down a 30-foot embankment and rolled onto its side after the bus driver apparently suffered a heart attack.

Ruby Stansbury, 58, of McCarley, doesn’t like saying her cancer is in remission but it’s in healing. Stansbury said her sister’s pastor in Kalamazoo, Mo., sent scriptures for her to meditate on daily and word to her that she was going to live and not die because God said so. And almost a year strong, she’s still fighting.
