WINONA – The Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District school board voted to request an increase in ad valorem funding in the amount of $295,000 for the 2019-2020 school year. The increase will be used to fund hiring two school resource officers and a planned objective to increase student proficiency, particularly in third grade reading.
The leaders of the public school districts in Carroll and Montgomery counties have finalized their budgets, with one district requesting an increase in ad valorem taxes and the other opting to request the same millage rate as last year.

WINONA – The Winona Board of Aldermen accepted a bid of $417,350.50 to pave Powell Street and several surrounding streets during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the board.
Murphy Paving Company was awarded the lowest and best bid on the project.
