The Montgomery County boys basketball team used “small ball” to claim the championship trophy at the Winona Tournament this past weekend. Decoreyon Small totaled 89 points in victories over J.Z. George, Eupora and Winona.

A perfectly executed out-of-bounds play enabled the Winona girls basketball team to edge Eupora 41-40 at a tournament hosted by Winona this past weekend. The Lady Tigers also defeated J.Z. George 67-22, but were beaten by Montgomery County 41-37 during the tournament, leaving the team with a 5-6 record.
The J.Z. George Jaguars captured their fourth victory of the season last week as they defeated Winona 66-61 in the Winona invitational Basketball Tournament.
The Jaguars entered the week with a 4-7 record. Also in tournament action, J.Z. George lost a 70-50 decision to Eupora and 63-42 to Montgomery County.
The Winona Christian School Lady Stars picked up two convincing wins this past week.
The Lady Stars hammered French Camp 71-28 and beat Jackson Victors 44-29. In boys action, WCS beat French Camp 56-53 but lost 78-35 to Jackson Victors.
