WINONA -- The Montgomery County School Board voted to appoint Dr. Wendy Hubbard as the new superintendent of education. Hubbard will take the place of James Johnson-Waldington, who resigned the post to take the helm at Leflore County Schools.

The North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery hosted this year’s Veterans Day Service for Montgomery County Saturday morning. NORTH CARROLLTON – J.Z. George High School hosted Yazoo County Friday night for the Jaguars’ final game of the year. The Jaguars, hoping to give the fans a win in their final home game, came up short falling to the Yazoo County Panthers 49-6.
The Winona Tigers are the 2A-2 District Champions following a 40-17 routing of East Webster Wolverines Friday night in Winona. The Tigers finished the regular season 7-3 and 3-1 in district play.
