Local guardsmen deploying

Next Monday, just before dawn, guardsmen from the Mississippi National Guard 2-114th Bravo Battery Field Artillery will leave the armories in Winona and Kosciusko for more than a year of overseas deployment. 

Approximately 85 guardsmen from Winona and Kosciusko armories will be deploying.  Their destination has not been disclosed.



MCSD appeals board decisions

The Montgomery County School District has filed an appeal challenging decisions made by the Winona Montgomery Consolidated School Board at its February 13 meeting.  One of those decisions was the appointment of Dr. Teresa Jackson as the superintendent of education for the Winona Montgomery Consolidated School District (WMCSD). 





Vaiden garbage pickup changes

VAIDEN – Garbage service in Vaiden will change effective Monday, Mayor Mel Hawthorne said.

Due to truck issues, the Town of Vaiden is now paying Carroll County to pick up garbage in town. However, pickup will move from Wednesday to Monday, beginning on March 5.
