The Winona boys and girls basketball teams will both play Bruce in the opening round of the MHSAA Region 4-3A tournament next Tuesday at East Webster. The girls game will kick off the tournament at 4 p.m., with the boys game to follow.
My friend is a big man, and he told me this story, in so many words.
My friend said he and three of his buddies went to Florida for a vacation. “I kept getting looks from people,” he said. “They moved away from me and said, ‘Man, you are big!’ They were scared of me.”
In the back roads in and around the Hesterville and Carmack communities runs a little creek, really just a little stream called Zilpher Creek. All the trees and brambles have grown up on each side as far as the little bit of water moves over the rocks covered in green moss and the sticks and skeletons of long-dead small wood animals.
As of press time Wednesday, there were 23 tickets still available for sale for the ever popular A Taste of Soup and Art Exhibit set for this Saturday, February 3 beginning at 11 a.m.
This year, the decorations, created by Susan Dunn, were inspired by Eric Carle, author of A Very Hungry Caterpillar.

First, second, and third grade students from Winona Christian School who met their Accelerated Reading goal for the second nine weeks were rewarded with a trip to the movies at Plaza Cinema in Grenada.
