The town of Carrollton is beginning to see the fruit of its labor after working to have Carrollton included on the Mississippi Writers Trail as the native home of renowned author Elizabeth Spencer listed. In addition, the town has been working to get a history marker for the Carrollton Community House.
Recent floods have brought trees down in Carroll County over the weekend on roadways. Sunday morning a tree fell on Highway 82 west of Carrollton and blocked the westbound lane of the highway, according to Carroll County Emergency Management/Civil Defense Director Ken Strachan.
The Class of 2019 toss their mortar boards after receiving their diplomas Friday night at Winona Christian School.
Winona attorney Ryan Taylor is working to become the next Montgomery County Prosecutor. Taylor will be vying for the seat in the August 6 Democratic Primary.
Starting in June, the town of Kilmichael will move to once per week garbage pickup. Currently, the town has garbage pick-up on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. Public Works Superintendent Johnny Pearson proposed the town move to once per week pick-up.
