DUCK HILL – A historical marker was unveiled last Friday near Duck Hill’s iconic red caboose for gospel pioneer and Duck Hill native Lucie E. Campbell.
“We are going to make this a part of the history of our town,” said Duck Hill Mayor Joey Cooley.

According to Montgomery County Extension Agent Amy Ware, more than $50,000 came back to Montgomery County in Sale of Champions money and scholarships. Also a Kilmichael 4Her came home with the top prize for lambs.

The Winona Christian Lady Stars grabbed a 43-40 win over Oak Hill to qualify for the Class AA North State Tournament. They lost the next two games and finished as the No. 4 seed out of District 1-AA.
The Montgomery County High School boys entered the MHSAA Region 5-1A Tournament Tuesday with a four-game losing streak after dropping games to Coffeeville 80-50 and Durant 67-62. The losing streak dropped the Hornets from region leader to the fourth seed in the six-team region tournament.
WINONA -- The Winona Lady Tigers closed out their regular season with a 50-25 win over Coffeeville, improving to 7-10 on the season “They (Coffeeville) beat us in the first game of the season, so I was very pleased,” said WHS Head Coach Veronica Helms.
WINONA – A traffic stop led to a Winona man being arrested for felony drug charges last week.
According to Winona Police Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, Michael Anthony Forrest, 43, of Winona was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.
DUCK HILL – The unveiling of the historical marker honoring gospel composer Lucie E. Campbell, a native of Duck Hill, will be held Friday, February 9, 2018, at noon in front of the town’s iconic caboose.
WINONA – The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved an engineering proposal from Gardener Engineering to provide services in the development of a proposed economic development project in Duck Hill.
