More than a decade ago, the City of Winona brought the clock that once graced the top of the old Montgomery County Courthouse home.
Winona was strong on offense, but not so much on defense, in its Region 3-3A opener, posting a 56-40 victory over host Coahoma Early College.
“We're not very good on defense,” said coach Joey Tompkins. We're not tackling very well. We have to find some answers on that side of the ball.”
Carroll Academy senior quarterback/running back Morgan Mims is having a monster season for the Rebels. With two more games to go in the regular season, Mims has already amassed 1,363 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns for coach Bo Milton’s double-wing offense.
After losing in double overtime to Winona Christian the week before, the Carroll Academy Rebels came out slow against Oak Hill on Friday night.
But while the Rebels may have started slow, they finished strong.
The Rebels scored on four straight possessions to start the second half and cruised to a 50-13 win over Oak Hill.

Even though the state playoffs don't start until Nov. 8, the Jaguars' playoff hopes could very well hinge on the outcome of Friday's home contest against Eupora High School.

Longtime Deputy Circuit Clerk Brenda King is retiring after 23 years of working with the people of Carroll County.
Stanton told Supervisors Monday that King would be retiring at the end of October. King said she began when K.T. Streeter and Billy Welch were in office.
