MCSO apprehend man wanted in Tennessee shooting


KILMICHAEL – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a man Sunday night who is wanted in Tennessee for first degree murder and attempted murder.

According to Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Tompkins, Marcus Holman, 32, was arrested at a residence in Kilmichael just before 6 p.m. tonight.

“We got a tip from a Winona police officer,” Tompkins said.

Tompkins said Holman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.  The Dyersburg Police Department is expected to pick Holman up and return him to Dyersburg.

According to a WBBJ news report, Holman is wanted in connection with an early morning shooting of two men at a Dyersburg apartment complex.    Lafayette Nance, 31, of Dyersburg and Eric Claybrooks, 27, of Dyersburg were shot in the Peach Tree Apartment Complex parking lot at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 12.

The report stated that Nance was declared dead at the scene, and Claybrooks was airlifted to Regional One Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he is in critical condition.
