Two local fishermen discovered a body in a canal off the Big Black River in the Stewart area.
According to Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Tompkins, the body of Jimmy Threadgill, 53, was found floating in the water the afternoon of January 29, 2020. Montgomery County Coroner Allan Pratt pronounced Threadgill dead at the scene.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the investigation, and Sheriff Brandon Busby and deputies from the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department were also at the scene.
“This case is being treated as a homicide,” Tompkins said. “The investigation is currently ongoing. We are keeping his family in our prayers.”
