Carroll County School Board looked a little different at their October monthly board meeting, with a packed house of supporters came as their children were recognized as being students of the month at J.Z. George High School and Marshall Elementary.
Modern Woodman of America is sponsoring the annual scarecrow decorating contest, and judging will be October 25.
Many area businesses and organizations have already planning their scarecrows or already have them on display.

Longtime Deputy Circuit Clerk Brenda King is retiring after 23 years of working with the people of Carroll County.
Stanton told Supervisors Monday that King would be retiring at the end of October. King said she began when K.T. Streeter and Billy Welch were in office.
The town of Vaiden will hold its annual Vaiden Heritage Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Mayor Mel Hawthorne said 19 vendors had paid and 11 had called and said they were coming. He said it’ll end up being 35 vendors in all at the festival Saturday ranging from food to arts and crafts.
