Superintendent Billy Joe Ferguson attended his last school board meeting for the Carroll County School District as head of the district. Ferguson, who has working in the district for 50 years, became tearful as he talked about the progress he’s seen the district make over the years.
A Winona native is competing for his second time on the Food Network channel in another cake battle. Jeromie Jones, who’s known as the “Kake King,” will be a contestant on the Food Network Challenge “A Christmas Story Cakes.”

The Town of Duck Hill will have its Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14. at 1 p.m. The theme this year is “It’s Christmas Time.” The Friends of the Duck Hill Library will have pictures with Santa before the parade begins from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
The Carroll County Board of Supervisors have been conducting interviews for its next Veteran Service Officer.
The position was vacated after the death of Command Sergeant Major Johnny Marlow, who held the position. At their board meeting Monday, Jackie McKinney and Glen Winger came before the board to speak.
The Town of Duck Hill mourns the loss of a trailblazer, alderman and a friend to many. Alderman Leroy Nash died Thursday, November 12, 2019 at his home under hospice care.
Funeral services for Nash were held at Binford Chapel United Methodist Church in Duck Hill where Nash was a member.
The 16th annual Kilmichael Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 5 p.m. The line up will begin on School Road beginning at 4:30 p.m.
“We’ve had some good feedback this year,” Alderman Charles Austin said. “We have some new entries and some floats that we hadn’t had in our parade.”
Administrators with the Carroll County School District are working to put the district back online after every computer in the district had to be cleared of viruses, and, as of late, the district is still experiencing issues.
