The Carroll County School Board will have to pay out a $5,000 deductible to a grandparent of one of its students after a bus backed into the vehicle while picking up another student.
After 36 years, last Thursday night marked the last board meeting for Beat 4 school board member Laura Norwood Davis, and after serving on the board since 2013, it marked the last meeting for Beat 3 member Daniel Vest.
After high school, students have a choice of whether to continue their studies at a two-year or four-year college or to enter the workforce. For some students at J.Z. George, they’ll be more equipped once graduating.
The Carroll County Board of Supervisors may look into the steps to become an ACT Work Ready Community. At their Nov. 26 meeting, Montgomery County Economic Development Director Sue Stidham came and talked to supervisors about coming on board.
Those who pass through the Town of Vaiden and residents will begin to see a new two percent tourism tax starting Jan. 1.
The measure was passed during the Nov. 6 election. The tax will bring in money for parks and recreation.
Beginning in January, the State of Mississippi will began rolling out its new tag. The new tags have a golden background with the emblem “In God We Trust” in the center, and Carroll County residents will see an increase if the new tag is mailed to you.
Saturday will kick off the Christmas season in Montgomery County with the annual Christmas parade and lighting of the square in downtown Kilmichael.
The parade will take place at 5 p.m. with the lighting following. Lineup will begin on School Road at 4:30 p.m. and participants are asked to enter School Road from Highway 413.
