The Town of Vaiden is making their adult entertainment ordinance stricter in the event another venue is located in the town. Aldermen voted to increase the fees and fines on the adult entertainment ordinance and move the location of the clubs to an area in Vaiden’s Industrial Park.
Several J.Z. George students have the opportunity to compete on the national level of the SkillsUSA competition, which will take place June 24 through the 29 in Louisville, Ky. Alex Zuniga, Patrick Roy and Gustavo Flores will compete against other teams through the 50 states during the competition.
Title additions and the discussion of several teachers from J.Z. George and one from Marshall not turning in signed contracts were main topics at the Carroll County School Board of Trustees special-called meeting last Thursday night at the Central Office in Carrollton.
The family of Bernard Yates will hold a benefit fundraiser on May 25 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Montgomery County Coliseum. Proceeds from the Bernard Yates benefit will go toward the rebuilding of his home that was lost in a fire on March 14 and to help with his medical cost. Yates has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer.
When the winter months come, there will be 21 students at Marshall Elementary who will be warm and snuggly in their new coats. For some children, the winter can be harsh because their parents, guardians or relatives may not be able to afford a new coat. Something many teachers know all too well.
