The Carroll County School District heard from new assistant superintendent and special education director, Dr. Wendy Hubbard, as she laid out the district Instructional Management Plan. The board unanimously approved the plan. Hubbard told the board the plan was needed as part of their accreditation.
Students at J.Z. George High School are in their first full week of classes and are getting back into the swing of school. As doors opened on Wednesday, Aug. 7, students were met with shiny floors, clean classrooms, and positive affirmations as they began each day.
The last of Tuesday’s ballots have finally been counted.
After all ballots have been counted in Montgomery County, Ronald White unseated Incumbent Janet Roby-Harper by five votes, while two races are going to a run-off on Aug. 27.
White received 283 votes, and Roby-Harper received 277 votes.
Workers are putting the last finishing touches on the new walking track at the Carroll County Recreation Park. Monday during their board meeting in Vaiden, the Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted to name the walking trail at the Carroll County Recreation Park after Mr. George Johnson.
The Carroll County School Board is going back to drawing board as they find a new superintendent by January 1, 2020. The board had offered the position to a potential candidate, but didn’t release the name of the candidate pending the candidate’s acceptance.
A Winona man will spend 60 days on house arrest for criminal neglect of four horses that were seized from his home on Stafford Wells Loop.
O.G. Johnson was charged with four counts of animal cruelty which stemmed from an incident that occurred Sunday, June 23. He was represented by Grenada attorney Neal Marlow.
In Montgomery County, the Primary Election results are still unofficial, but there will be a run off in the sheriff’s race between incumbent Bubba Nix and challenger Jeff Tompkins. The two will face off on Aug. 27, and the winner will move on to face independent candidate Barry Gregg in the General Election on Nov. 5.
