Thursday, Superintendent of Education Jim Ray attended his first board meeting with the Carroll County School Board to a room that was standing room only. After the meeting, Ray was welcomed to the district with a reception.

Carroll County is slowly beginning to see some recovery money roll in from the flooding that happened in February 2019. Emergency Management and Civil Defense Director Ken Strachan said the county has seen some FEMA recovery money roll in.
Carroll County Board of Supervisors held a special called meeting Thursday afternoon at the Carrollton courthouse. Supervisors met with officials with Renewable Energy Solutions about their upcoming Delta’s Edge Solar Farm project.
There will be a runoff election in Duck Hill between Shernell Brown-Everett and Tommy Earl White. City Clerk Lasonja Sizemore said affidavits were still being counted this morning and the official totals had not been given as of yet.
Attorney Kelsey Dismukes, will take over as board attorney for the Town of Kilmichael.
Longtime Board Attorney Lane Greenlee told the board of aldermen Tuesday night that he wasn’t “giving them away” and would still be around when he’s needed, but he’s turning the reins over to Dismukes.
The Town of Vaiden is looking into a water rate increase for any business with a two-inch water meter. Mayor Mel Hawthorne said the Town of Vaiden was awarded a $450,000 Community Block Development Grant. However, because of the pea sized gravel that has been in the water, it’s caused problems at the town’s lagoon.
The newly-elected and re-elected Carroll County Board of Supervisors held its first meeting of 2020 Monday morning in Carrollton. The board welcomed new board member Josh Hurst, representing Beat 2, and new Chancery Clerk Casey Carpenter.
