Tigers open region play with win over Forest

Forest won Region 5-3A last year, but there is a new kid on the block. Winona went on the road for its first region game as a 3A school and improved to 4-0 with a dominating win over the Bearcats 41-21.

“That was nice,” said coach Joey Tompkins. “1-0 is better than 0-1.”

The Tigers have scored at least 33 points in every game.

Winona bests Bruce

Winona slow-pitch softball rallied with three runs in the bottom seventh to walk off with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Bruce.

The game was scoreless until Bruce scored once in the fifth, then added two in the sixth for a 3-0 lead.

Tigers enjoy ‘open gym’ after June’s success

July can be leisure time for high school basketball players between summer ball in June and the start of school in August.

“In July, we just have open gym,” said Winona boys coach Presley Coleman. “It’s kind of our down time. It gives the players a chance to rest and be ready for workouts in August once we get back in school.”
