WINONA – Montgomery County law enforcement officers and first responders will go through a Mississippi Homeland Security-led training which will focus on active shooters in public places.
Children in Carroll and Montgomery counties are nearing the end of their first week of school, and things are getting back into the school-year groove.
The Carroll County race for Chancery Clerk will continue to a run-off on August 27, with Casey Carpenter taking on Christy Noah.
In Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election, Carpenter led the three-way race with 1,402 votes. Noah came in second with 1,308 votes, and Monica Jones followed with 1,023 votes.

With schools starting back next week, teachers in Montgomery County will be attending an annual Professional Leadership Conference organized by the Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District. The conference began today and will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
