Tuesday evening, the school board of the Winona Montgomery Consolidated School District moved forward with tasks designated by the Mississippi Department of Education for the July 1 consolidation of the Winona and Montgomery County school districts.
NORTH CARROLLTON – The roster of the Carrollton North Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department is currently at 22 volunteers, according to Carroll County Fire Coordinator Art Hicks.
“It is turning out real well,” said Hicks. “Better than expected.”
Carroll County’s new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system has been operating since January 17, and as of Tuesday afternoon, the Carroll County Emergency Operations Center 911 dispatch office has received over 600 calls.
WINONA – A traffic stop led to a Winona man being arrested for felony drug charges last week.
According to Winona Police Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department, Michael Anthony Forrest, 43, of Winona was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.
DUCK HILL – The unveiling of the historical marker honoring gospel composer Lucie E. Campbell, a native of Duck Hill, will be held Friday, February 9, 2018, at noon in front of the town’s iconic caboose.
WINONA – The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved an engineering proposal from Gardener Engineering to provide services in the development of a proposed economic development project in Duck Hill.
WINONA – The Winona board room was filled to capacity Tuesday night for the regular meeting of the Winona Mayor and Board of Aldermen. While most attended to inform themselves on the goings-on in the city, some spoke to the board regarding specific concerns.
WINONA – The Winona School District archery team is currently practicing for district competition set for late March.
The team will travel to Coffeeville March 26-29 for the district match and move on to the state competition in Jackson April 3-7.
