There’s a lot of truth in the old adage “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” It’s an admonition Mississippi lawmakers should remember in considering bills some think may address problems but which could, in fact, exacerbate them.
Repeated days of sub-freezing temperatures, not to mention icy streets, make for too much television time for retired people who like to get outdoors. Cable news, sports channels, and the internet can all whittle away at the day, but it leaves me more cynical than I should be.
I can almost smell those hamburgers cooking 65 years later. Roy Miller operated what could be called a cafe adjacent to the campus of the then location of Petal High School. His main menu was hamburgers and soft drinks. It may have been his only fare, as I don’t recall ever eating anything else there.
