Funeral services for Mrs. Cheerie Hoover Sanders of North Carrollton were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, at North Carrollton United Methodist Church in North Carrollton, with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Ed Temple, assisted by Rev. Ed Saunders, officiated the services.

Visitation was Thursday, June 26, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sanders, 85, died of heart failure at her residence on Tuesday, June 24.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, on August 23, 1928, to Isaac Newton and Lydia McLin Hoover. She served as a registered nurse in the U.S. Navy and was a homemaker. She was an active member of North Carrollton United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Sanders loved to write and enjoyed reading and listening to music. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Julius Hoover.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Duke Sanders of North Carrollton; two daughters, Anne Sanders Turnage (Jeff) of Columbus and Edee Sanders Temple (Ed) of Batesville; one son, Edward Sanders (Krista) of Madison; and four grandchildren, William Temple of Birmingham, Ala., and McLin Sanders, Sydney Sanders, and Max Sanders, all of Madison.

Pallbearers were Pate Shackelford, Buzz Handwerker, Bill Gillespie, Burnell Taylor, Johnny Summerville, and Jerry Beckwith.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Carrollton United Methodist Church.
