J.Z. George High School was recognized as one of the nation's best schools by the U.S. News and World Report.
J.Z. George was the recipient of a bronze award from U.S. News and World Report - in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education and data research and analyst business that provides parents with educational data. More than 21,000 public schools across the country were analyzed on academic and enrollment. The top schools were placed into gold, silver, bronze or honorable mention categories. In the bronze medal category, schools either do not offer AP or IB or do not achieve a college readiness index of at least 20 but successfully meet the other two key performance indicator criteria.
In the gold and silver medal category schools, the top 100 schools nationally are based on the College Readiness Index.
Now in its 90th year of existence, J.Z. George offers a wide variety in it's curriculum. Technologically the school is up-to-date, with new computer labs and a portable lab for students' use in their own classrooms.
J.Z. George recently added Allied Health to the curriculum as well as building and trades, agriculture, family and consumer sciences.
"I'm proud and honored that J.Z. George was recognized," Carroll County Superintendent Billy Joe Ferguson said. "It goes back to the fact the faculty, staff and administrators care about the kids."
