This Saturday the lawn chairs will be stretched out and barbeque will fill the air as one of the best July 4th's ever will take place in North Carrollton.

Sponsored by the Carroll County Development Association and the Carroll County Recreation League the first time event will take place at the Carroll County Recreation Complex in North Carrollton.

According to Angie Costilow, one of the committee members for the celebration, the event will begin on Saturday, July 4, at 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Costilow said the event is a celebration of Carroll County’s 175 anniversary.

Attendees will pay a $2.00 admission fee at the gate and vendors will be available.

CCDA President George Johnson said the event is the ongoing celebration of Carroll County's 175 anniversary and everyone is invited to attend.

"Everyone from all four corners of the county," Johnson said. "This is a celebration that will have something for everybody and a chance for people to see the recreation park."

Park director Cary Wayne Moore said with this being the first year of the event, he does not know what to expect.

"I think this is a good idea," Moore said. "The local bands and vendors setting up this is something we are looking forward to."

Costilow and Regina Givens are two of the three committee members for the event and Costilow said the county's 175th anniversary played a major role in getting the event started.

"This is a community celebration and we invite everyone to come out and be apart of this," Costilow said.

Costilow said the "kid's parade" will be conducted within the park, and children are invited to bring their bikes, tricycles, scooters, and battery operated vehicles decorated in July 4th fashion.

Prizes will be given to children that will participate in other activities and games as well such as go fish, egg races, balloon races and inflatables. Fireworks will be lit by the Carrollton/North Carrollton Fire Department at the night's end.

Costilow said the admission fee proceeds will go towards the event effort. She said food vendors will prepare tasty items like pulled pork, hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, chicken, fish and nachos.

"This is a big thing and a celebration of the county," Costilow said. "This is not only a celebration for Carrollton and North Carrollton, but all of Carroll County. Vaiden, Black Hawk, Coila, Teoc, everybody."

Costilow said volunteers and helpers are still needed for the event and for information concerning volunteers and interests in entertaining contact the Carroll County Extension Service at 237-4413.

"Bring your lawn chairs, this will be a celebration you won't forget," Costilow said.
