WINONA – Eddie Octavious Green, 23, of Winona was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Javon M. Johnson.

According to Winona Police Captain Tommy Bibbs, Johnson, 21, was shot Monday, June 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Campbell Street just west of the Cade Street intersection. He was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, June 18.

Bibbs said reports of a fight on Campbell Street sent officers to the scene, and when they arrived, they found Johnson lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.

Green is currently being held without bond at the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.

“More arrests are expected in connection with the incident,” Bibbs said.

Bibbs said the investigation is ongoing, and the Winona Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are actively interviewing witnesses.

Green is scheduled to appear before Judge Devo Lancaster next Tuesday in Winona City Court.
