Winona was the host of this year’s 4-H Club North Half Meat Cook-off, where junior and senior 4-H’ers competed for the top spot in the North Half.
According to Kip Brown, Area 4-H Livestock specialist, participants from different counties in the northern half of the state showed their skills with a grill in categories of pork, poultry and beef.
“We had a great turnout, and this year’s cook-off appears to be a success,” Brown said. “This is a great contest and a lot of fun.”
Participants came to Winona equipped with their own grills, tables, cleaning supplies, utensils and most importantly, the meats.
According to Brown, the top winner was selected by local judges out of the three categories, which brings an end to the cook-off events at the 4-H level.
