College teams didn’t let one area player slip out of their hands as former Winona High standout Tony Taylor signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the next level.

Taylor will play baseball for the next two seasons at Holmes Community College in Goodman after putting up a stellar career in Winona since transferring from Grenada.

Taylor helped the Tigers to a 14-win season this year and led Winona with a .465 batting average and 20 hits. Taylor, who was one of the leaders of that Tiger outfield, also finished with 12 RBI.

In 2013 he led the team with four triples and a .310 batting average.

Taylor will play for the HCC Bulldogs, who won 31 games a season ago and made a trip to the MACJC playoffs.
