CARROLLTON - Diana Lee Hawkins, age 58, died on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the University Medical Center in Jackson. She was born on November 15, 1955 to the late Charles Pruett and Nell Beatrice Tingle Corder. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, and received her degree in education from Delta State University in Cleveland. She was a teacher for 35 years at W.C. Williams School in Greenwood, Winona Public Schools, and she retired from Grenada Public Schools. At her time of death she was a 4th grade teacher and research director at Carroll Academy in Carrollton. She was a member of the Carrollton Baptist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and was loved by all her "babies" that she educated. She was preceded in death by her husbands Steve Wright, Sr, and Donald Hawkins, and a brother Ernest "Bubba" Corder.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29 at 11:30 a.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood with Rev. Fletcher Moorman officiating. Burial was at the Itta Bena Cemetery. Pallbearers were Patrick Griffin, Hunter Hawkins, Howie Hawkins, Birnham Hawkins, Stephen Paul Boyd, and Tristin Hoover. Honorary pallbearers were her fellow educators.

She is survived by three sons, Steve (Kristen) Wright, Jr. of Southaven, Hunter Hawkins of Carrollton and Howie Hawkins of Teoc; one daughter, Jamie (Trinity) Hoover of Teoc; one brother, Roger Corder of McCarley; three sisters, Patricia Griffin of McCarley, Lona Kay Black of Brandon and Mary Nell Dickson of Byhalia; seven grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
