Dalton Alford, age 80, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1933 to the late J.E. and Helen (Buchanan) Alford and resided there all of his life. He was a retired cattleman and farmer, and served as a deacon of the New Hope Christian Church in Carroll County. He was a dedicated husband and loving father and grandfather.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral services were held Friday, May 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood with Rev. Larry Edwards officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Carroll County. Pallbearers were Marc Alford, Todd Alford, Kit Colvin, Jeff Dunn, James Locke, and Chuck Mims.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emma Dunn Alford of Gravel Hill; three daughters, Nita (Johnny) Farrish of Carroll County, Rita (Gil) Shaw of Carrollton and Ann (Terry) Whitfield of Carroll County; six grandchildren, Denise Pyron, Alisha Farrish, Michelle Downs, Chris Shaw, Jamey Shaw, and Code Whitfield; eight great grandchildren, Brandon Pyron, Kendall Pyron, John Pyron, Gavin Pyron, Braylen Downs, William Shaw, Madeleine Shaw, and Dalton Shaw.
